Register for both seminars using the Specialty Order Form.
Registration deadline: March 30, 2007.

Seminar #1: Canine Performance Medicine
Presented by Patricia Perkins, DVM
Monday, April 30th, 7 - 9 p.m. at the Marina Inn
Fee - TBD

Is it a training problem, or is your dog trying to tell you something hurts?  What are the subtle performance issues that can turn a qualifying performance into a winning one?   Spend the evening with Dr. Pat Perkins learning how to evaluate your own dog’s structural strengths and weaknesses, and find out how chiropractic and acupuncture can help enhance performance. Dr. Perkins will outline the holistic integration of western and eastern healing practices, with a specific focus on the conditioning and maintenance of healthy canine athletes.

Some helpful acupressure points will be taught for you to use on your own performance dogs.

Pat Perkins, D.V.M., has a twenty-five year history training and competing with dogs. She acquired her first Belgian Malinois in 1986 (Ch UDX) and was the breeder of the first Malinois OTCh MACH TDX (Barb Benner’s Lexie).  She holds a Bachelors Degree in Health Sciences and worked for 13 years in Clinical Laboratory Medicine.  After her own dog was helped by acupuncture and chiropractic she decided to continue her education and in 2000 she graduated from the University of Missouri with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine.  Dr. Perkins then pursued additional education in Veterinary Acupuncture at Colorado State University and in Veterinary Chiropractic at Options for Animals. She completed her training in Veterinary Chinese Herbal Medicine at the Chi Institute in Gainesville, Florida. She is currently studying for a Master’s Degree in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine.  Dr. Perkins owns and operates Canine Performance Medicine, LLC, a holistic practice located in the Greater Kansas City area.

Seminar #2: Terv101 - To Breed or Not to Breed
Presented by Diane Schultz, Helen Hittesdorf & Maureen Foley
Wednesday, May 2nd  7 - 8:30 p.m. at the Marina Inn
Fee - $10

Understanding the Belgian Tervuren breed standard and how your dog measures up to it should be one of the key factors in determining whether or not your dog/bitch should be bred.  Not only will this TERV101 seminar facilitate your comprehension of the new breed standard, it will also help guide you in choosing the right mate (if you choose to breed), educate you in the time and expense involved in “doing it right”, and help you develop a comprehensive puppy contract when engaging in this lifetime commitment.  Our panel of knowledgeable speakers are ABTC members Diane Schultz (Standard Review Committee Chair), Helen Hittesdorf (breeder of 26 years and breeder of a National Specialty winner) and Maureen Foley (owner of a BIS and two time National Specialty winner).

For additional information, contact the Seminar Chair, Dianne L. Allen, at 815-936-0742 or terv200@aol.com.
